Small boats were called karbas (Russian: карбас).[6] The big boats were called "pausik" (Russian: паузок).[4] Roman Mashkov, Hero of the Soviet Union, was born in the village on 22n'd September, 1922. He left for the war front in October 1941, and returned in 1945 to continue working in the village.[7]
